Ontario International Airport. Ontario, California 2013

A magical and enchanting landscape of diversity in the arts and culture exits at the center of a burgeoning artistic, manufacturing and technological center in the Ontario Airport community which spreads throughout the Inland Empire of Chino, Chino Hills, Riverside, San Bernardino and some of the hottest desert destinations like Palm Springs, bringing together artistic influences from across the world.
The exhibition titled “Out of Thin Air” reflects upon the cultivation of these fine arts in Southern California where the illustrious sunshine creates a unique ambiance and glow in which to paint, plein-air or in-studio, with traditional oils, wood carvings or emerging digital and analogue photography as well as film technologies; each are represented in a significant collection of Paintings, Photography and Mixed Media works exhibited in Terminal Two, and Four at the Ontario International Airport.

This exhibition group was originally shown in the United Airlines Terminal of LAX Los Angeles World Airports Gate 2 in April through October of 2012. In this traveling exhibition that has migrated over to the Ontario International Airport, new photographers and new artworks are featured as well as some of the original artists. Congratulations goes out to the entire group of "The Out of Thin Air" Artists which include the following artists that show and have shown in the Airports Arts Program for the Los Angeles World Airports:

Mark X Farina, Renée Fox, Steve Fujimoto, Michael Giancristiano, Shizuko Greenblatt, Scott Grieger, Michael Massenburg, Kenneth Ober, Holly Tempo, Luke Van Hook, Hung Viet Nguyen, Carol Curtis, Siri Kaur, Yoichi Kawamura, Mona Lisa Whitaker, Ann Marie Rousseau, and Ginger Van Hook, all artists helping to demonstrate the diversity and complexity of creativity from the inspiration of practicing their art in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire and Orange County.

In Terminal 2, Photographers reveal the nature of “Out of Thin Air” by exploring both obvious clues and sometimes fanciful interpretations such as Air Show airplanes in flight, from Ann Marie Rousseau or the spacious empty sky containing a myriad of feeling and interpretation by Yoichi Kawamura and the breadth of outer space from the perspective of powerful telescopes with magnification lenses beyond the reach of the human eye shown by Siri Kaur.

In Terminal 4, Painters and Mixed Media Artists representing the immediate Los Angeles community and surrounding local areas, are exhibiting their original Paintings and Mixed Media. These artists derive a certain amount of inspiration, interpretation and motivation from the concept, “Out of Thin Air”. Also these artists influence each other by virtue of living, working, practicing and experiencing artwork in the community of Los Angeles. These works, originally produced, include several alumni and faculty from Otis College of Art and Design, the art school that borders the runway of one of the nations’ busiest airports at LAX, the connecting destination for many passengers flying out of Ontario. Some of these celebrity alumni and or faculty members include Scott Grieger, Holly Tempo, Siri Kaur, (Faculty Members) and Kenneth Ober, Renée Fox and Luke and Ginger Van Hook (Alumni and Faculty Members).
